Just so relaxing and stress relieve when everything is doing good, fish swimming around and corals opens up nicely.

almost bought a second tank, but I had to pull myself back and gave up the deal

If you love the Ocean- you'll love the hobby. Its the colors, the challenge, the successes and the communities such as R2R that keep us nurtured in such a hobby of collecting !!

Tell us why you staying in this hobby
It addicting and I love the challenges. It keeps me out trouble until my wife finds out how much I spent on a coral, fish, Led lighting and didn't buy her a purse of shoes.
I have a piece of the ocean in my home and it's relaxing.

+1 for a piece of the ocean, especially in the winter when I can't freedive without getting some moderate-severe hypothermia. Other than the relaxing scene it provides the challenge and the infinite learning curve I'm just fascinated by the fluorescents of the corals, its just hypnotic.

I can list several reasons! But my top is it brings curiosity to my children. Though this addiction started even before the thought of children for me I have enjoyed the scenic views, cool gadgets, the highs and lows, but in the end and now for me its when my children come up and ask “what is that”or “why do these creatures do these things”?Being able to give them an answer or together we find it. and usually being able to inhibit the thought to them that (Everything In this tank has a purpose) just like you and your life. Not only is it a hobby but a life lesson they can look on later. Don’t know if will work but hey why not try. ;)

Don’t even get me start on those silly butt purse or shoes. I really don’t mind spending a $1k on clothes but I can’t stand how a purse costs $3k knowing that it only costs them prob $100 to make it. With that being said, I have no problem spending tons of money on something that is good deal but not a $400 on a single pump.

Don't get started about the cost of this hobby that's another new thread.

Fifty eight years old, (Looks better in words rather then numbers), I have kept tanks as long as I can remember. Grew up at Lake Tahoe, kept FW and SW.

Keeping tanks has always been a major component in my life. Went to private school, took my tank, and to college as well.

As I sit here and listen to the gurgle of two tanks in the middle night.

It's just who I am, I love the hobby, I can not explain it.

.

Besides being interesting, relaxing (sometimes) and awesome the main reason for me is that I grew up by the beach, I went every single day after school but life took me to away from the Caribbean. Now I have a little piece of home at my new home, plus I'm lucky enough to have a wife that share this hobby with me and I'm the one hitting the breaks when it comes to buy corals and spend money on the tank.
