My two spot bristletooth has been going after my new addition, starry blenny, it goes after most of my other fish also but not anywhere near what the blenny receives. I’m also not crazy about this fish either, online pics made it look more red than the dark brown it is most of the time. I probably should’ve checked one out at my lfs before ordering online, that’s my fault. When it flashes it’s spots and stripes though it does look very nice.

What is the checklist of things to look at when deciding to remove a fish? Is not being happy with its colors enough? Is being a bully enough? Do I have to wait until he hurts a fish? Or do I wait to see if it gets bored of the bullying?

I will remove any fish I want for whatever reason I desire. I take it to the local store. I do not ask to be paid for the fish. I'm just glad to have a place to take it. The store returns the favor in other ways.

This. My LFS won't pay for a fish, but will usually discount some coral if the fish is desirable.

Honestly, this is normal for a tang. Remember;
Hierarchal issues occur with ANY new addition. No matter what you do with this tang, you will always have a tank boss and that tank boss will go for the new additions. My Bristletooth hates my blenny but it isn’t constant unlike it used to be.

Out of curiousity, when you say red were you looking at the White Tail Bristletooth? These guys are truly a red colour whilst Ctenochaetus binotatus is rarely red.
I’ve only ever seen my Binotatus truly red once and this was last year in September.

The majority of the time his colours are these bit with some alterations such as a much yellower tail or lighter browns. And sometimes the blue eye ring goes a stunning electric blue.

Never knew my blue eyed kole(Ctenochaetus strigosus) could be so red, until I hung a mirror to try and curb some aggression.
When my Blue Eyed shows aggression he goes these stunning colours. I’ve been told in the past he looks unhappy but honestly, he’s my happiest fish (Aside from my Fox).

hung a mirror for my powder blue got white strips running down its blue
Yup agree, mine turns this super red, whith white stripes down it's side. Almost looks like lighting bolts down it's side. So pronounced, I never knew the fish could change colors like that.

I generally remove a fish if I want to give it away because of bullying or he just got to big. Or if it is dying of old age like this Watchman and I give him a more peaceful death rather than the bristleworms tear him apart while he is still alive.

I was looking under two spot bristletooth, I didn’t buy from liveaquaria but looks like the vendor used the same picture.

Juveniles are usually what show that beautiful red but as they age it gets brown and their blue stripes and spots show up more.
