Rebirth

A friend had to dismantle his tank and I got his last 5 fishes.
- a couple of mandarins
- an "eating flakes and nori" CBB
- a forktail blenny
- a yellow tail tamarin

All fishes came just fine, and the tamarin is a dream that came true. A fish that I always wanted, but which come in from imports in very bad shape and that generally don't accept dry food very well. Plus, it has a very low long term survival rate.

Mandarins
This couple was mating in my friend reef, but in mine untill now, they don't.
I'll try to improve the amount of pods in the tank with some "suplements".
Untill now I didn't see them eating nothing but micro life from the tank.

It's eating Krill flakes from JBL and nori.
It's a very large fish and it's no shy at all.
The bad side: it's nipping my clams eventually.....:confounded-face:
I have 8 of them and, untill now, they didn't show no damage caused bby the nipping.
Let's see........

Tamarin
A well known finicky eater when "new" and a very bad traveller........
This came to me very fat, no shy at all and eating everything, from pellets, to flakes, to nori, and fresh food too (shrimp and mysis).

And last, but no least..............

I lost my maculiceps tang due to...................nothing that I can point at.
It was good in one day, and dead in the next.

I went search then for another tang.
I thought about a lot of different species, but an opportunity showed up, and I ended up with a gem tang.
Another fish that I always loved. Another white freckled black fish with yellow tail..... :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Darwin, being pretty............

Good to see that the tank is coming back stronger.
Sad to hear about the lost tang, but great news about the corals and other fishes.
I hope to see those amazing pictures soon more often again.

@Alex Costa -

Your tank had been a long time inspiration for me. I have found most of the answers to my questions in your thread, but I have another...

Do you quarantine your fish or coral before putting in the display?

If not, how do you combat coral pests and fish disease?

Hello!
I don't do the quarantine of neither.
All my fishes came from very well known stores, that do the process of quarantine themselves.
The same with corals, but corals get a dip with AF Protect Dip.

Is it the best practice?
Probably not.
But it's what I can do.

Well.....

I stayed away for a time......2022 wasn't a very good year for me.
Lots of trouble and, to finish up, I've lost my father after a long cancer battle.

Let's see what this new year brings and I'll try, from now on, to keep this topic up to date.
I was looking the past 10 or 15 pages and I found very interesting to see the phases of the tank, like I was reading an old diary.

I hope that you all stay well.....And may the new year bring, along with it, many good things.
