Rebuild 75 G Deep Blue Tank

Hello my fellow reefers,

It's that time again I am doing a move from NY to CT which I get opportunity to start over from scratch except my tank and stand will remain the same as well as live stock and corals. I choose to go with this route as it is a bit cheaper than to start all over and upgrade. My career will not allow me to upgrade to a bigger tank for now. I was thinking initially to just buy live sand and prepare extra water, select a day to move tank and pretty much bring all initial problems along.

I am thinking to buy a 40 breeder to put my corals and fish etc in it until I have completely setup the 75 gallon.

Plans for 75 G

• Install apex controller etc underneath cabinet
• Mount led light under cabinet
• Redo plumbing with manifold red PVC
• Replace current(white) sand with Black sand

Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Sounds good and I wish you well on your move. Might look into battery powered air pumps and air stones for your move along with some buckets with snap on tops or Rubber Maid containers with tops. The slosh of water makes a mess as you travel down the road so keep the water level lower in each container to prevent slosh over the sides (even with the tops on some leakage will occure). Take extra towles to place around the containers.

Well this weekend is the final moment, tank will be broken down and rebuild hopefully the next day or so.

Rough day, broke down the tank. Things went well for most of it.
The tank is completely strip down even sand bed is gone, I will have to clean out the tank. Tomorrow I will go back to the Bronx to pick up my stand, and dump etc. my plan for tomorrow is to get a Jig saw to make a square so that a wrench would fit to make tighten the bulkheads. Corals and fishes are currently staying in my basement with MP40, heater etc in a 36 gallon Rubbermaid tub. I hope I don't wake in morning with water all over the floor. Containers look and feel flimsy.

Half way there still have so much to do but too tired. Curiosity how long can corals and fish go without filter? Currently have them in a 37 Gallon Rubbermaid container with Heat, MP40 and my Old T5 light fixture. I will do a 5 gallon water change Tomorrow since I don't plan to add them to the 75G until weekend. Better to be safe than to be sorry.

Sorry I haven't keep everyone posted, but my tank is doing well so far. The two main issues I have are:
1. Unfortunately my 4 year old eshopp PSK150 skimmer stop producing bubbles.[emoji20]
2. My alkalinity

is running on the low side compare to what it use to be. Currently 6dkh which is usually 8. Performed a 10G water change yesterday, today will test alkalinity again.

Tired of issues with my skimmer I seen it coming for the past 5 months but it always came back skimming properly. I bit the bullet and purchased a Skimz Monzter SM161 Internal Protein Skimmer. Can't wait to receive and test it out.
Later today I will post better photos.
