hey everyone, im upgrading my current 10 gallon sump to a 39 gallon sump. first things first, ive had to make my two middle vertical support beams wider apart to fit the bigger tank. i did that by basically shaving 1/4 inch off of each post. the tank im trying to put in is now to long to slide underneath but will fit once inside. what i need to do is take apart the tank and put it back together underneath the tank... i intend to put 2 baffles to make 3 chambers. my question is how sturdy would the tank be if the black trim was not used? the tank wouldn't be filled to the top and im sure the baffles would help too? any comments would be awsome.

The black trim is an integral part of the tank structure. That said, on smaller tanks, there is "probably" enough strength in the joints to be ok without the trim. The baffles will help a lot. Can you put the trim back on once the tank is placed? Also have you ever tried to get the trim off? It is not easy.

the bottom trim is already off. i tried fitting the tank underneath the stand and got it wedged tight enough when i pull it back out the trim came right off. if possible i will put the trim back on but i was also thinking about using my scrap acrylic to make braces on the corners of the tank. i think all that being done it will hold. my next task is removing the silicone and cleaning the edges so they can fit flush together again.... worst comes to worst, i will build i new stand. a 10 gallon sump is pointless... it has to go.
