My rim of my tank isn't letting me place the sensor high enough to where it sits evenly and safely on the glass. I have it mounted with the magnet on the rim and it is somewhere catching the magnet and staying on the tank. But I don't want to do it this way, I want it done right. Any ideas how to fix this? Because if I place it further down and flat on the glass, the water level is to low and I can see the water level when looking to the tank and I don't want that. I'm thinking of buying something to wedge it in the flat and to where the magnet still catches the other magnet. Or someone told me I can use a dremel to cut the rim of the tank off just to where I can fit the sensor. Any ideas?

Do you use a sump? I have my auto top off sensor on my sump. If the sump stays at a constant level the display should be the same...

Hmm I've always had a sump...
hopefully someone else has an idea.

Good luck

Anything that will cut it. Use a file to grind it down or a razor blade.

Being it's over your water I would try a razor blade... if you try to gringo it you'll most likely get plastic particles in your tank...

Could just hold a vacuum by where you are grinding. Even if some shavings do hit the water they will stay on the surface and can be easily collected with a net

What is the downside of placing the ato like this? Slanted upwards

And will cutting a whole piece of trim be bad for the tank so that the tank has rim all the way around and then bam no trim at all for an inch and continues with the trim?

Just trim the inside edge, it is pretty easy to do and will allow you to use it correctly. Having it slanted should not cause any issues that I can think of besides having to have a little bit of a higher level to trip the sensors.

With a dremel or what?

what about using acrylic squares and spacing the sensor out past the lip? That way you don't have to cut into the bracing, and you could remove it if necessary.

That's what I want thinking but would the magnet catch the other side of the acrylic ?

Are you saying it to where the sensor sits flat against the tank/ with the acrylic so the lip is out of the way.
