I finally got my leopard wrasse from liveaquaria.

after floating and acclimating salinity, I put in the QT tank and immediately the wrasse went to the back of the tank and began to try to keep from turning on its side. It then went behind pvc pipe and hid beneath it. Respiration’s are fast and I’m not sure if it’s going to pull through.

only time will tell, has anyone had the same experience ?

Reduce lights very low and allow it to take in water and get fresh oxygen and relax. Typical of a wrasse is rapid breathing after acclimation and intro. Do not attempt to feed it tonight. Increase oxygen if you can and check on it in the morning or a couple of hours later.
By what means did you acclimate.

Drip acclimated water to the bag

Floated the bag on the water for 1 hour.

We'll i will check on it in the morning. Hopefully fingers crossed its alive. this is like my dream fish

These wrasse are poor shippers... if you had the bag open for an hour, that is way too long for a shipped fish. When fresh air gets in the bag, pH rises and makes ammonia in the bag a lot more toxic. I never drip a shipped fish in the bag water. If salinity is off, get it in new clean water that is matched (can just have water on hand and add RODI to bring it down quick) and then drip from there.

I did have one that was in very poor shape after shipping pull through (was getting stuck to overflow).

Never knew this. Thanks man for the advice.

Will have to hope it miraculously just comes out from under that rock and swims normal

i have found the standard leopard wrasse is fairly hardy, the ornate (or divided) which looks similar but with a blue chest is much harder to keep. sorry about your loss... don't give up. I would assume liveaquaria will ship you a new one (unless they consider it exempt).

For future, put a dish of sand in the tank with them. They bury in the sand and will be even more stressed if they can’t.

Unfortunately, I’m pretty certain these are exempt from LiveAquaria’s 7 day guarantee.
