So im currently dealing with dinos and part of my treatment is to raise tanked no3 and po4 levels. I also rely on my co2 scrubber to maintain ph levels but I leave skimmer drain line open back into sump to keep nutrients up. I have Neptune's Trident and noticed calcium levels kept rising even with dosing turned off for several days. I mean really going up. Did a several manual tests using red sea pro to confirm.
Scratching my head im asking myself why if im not dosing. Well i decided to turn off skimmer altogether with the attatched co2 scrubber media which I believe is calcium carbonate (soda lime). After a day and a half of that off I confirmed calcium began to drop.
Anyone here have had this happen? Maybe because I have open drain line and somehow the scrubber media air along with skimmate is causing calcium levels to rise??

Is moisture getting into the scrubber and making it's way into the skimmer/sump?

Only other thought would be if the media is heavy in dust and a very strong air pressure is sending particles into tank.

If you want heavier nutrients just lower the water level in your skimmer so it isn't able to produce skimmate.

Yeah I need to raise my skimmer because its lower that its lowest recommended height. It overflows on occasion. Thank you!
