recirculating co2 scrubber setup

Here is my setup. I found a nice coupling that fits through the holes of my skimmer. I also sealed off the rest of the holes with silicone. Not sure if this will work to preserve soda lime for longer as people say, but (predictably) there is some moisture going into the hose back to scrubber. Is this pretty normal? Will it harm the media? It just looks like evaporation.

Should I free up some of the air from the skimmer cup or will that completely defeat the point of recirculating?

I suggest you disconnect that immediately before you dump concentrated NaOH into your tank and nuke it. You need a water trap between the skimmer lid and the reactor to prevent significant water from getting into the reactor. Moist humid air is good, but you don’t want any droplets getting in there.

+1 you'll be shocked at how much water condenses in the trap.

Honestly I was really surprised at that myself when I was searching google for the photo example I shared above. Maybe depending on the setup and relative height of the components, it could work without a trap, but not worth the risk IMO.
 
The trap linked above is great, Fishofhex has some great 3d printed parts he makes for CO2 scrubbers and other accessories.

I used an old GFO container and drilled into the top. Not as sleek, but it works haha.

It won't fill up fast, but will need to be periodically emptied. Good thing is it's condensate so it's "clean" compared to the tank and skimmer cup

Good call on the GFO canister. Totally makes sense to trap some of that stuff to avoid a disaster.
