curious what the Concensus is.....
Looking at the recirculating reef octopus classic vs

The new reef octopus elite dc

I don’t want to worry about upsetting the skimmer by changing sump levels from ato issues

I hear a recirculating model will allow for that or s dc model with speed control.

Any thoughts

I have a Hydor recirculating skimmer in my sump and love it; water level variations never even come to mind. ;Happy

Direct AC is my choice as I am getting constant skimming rather than variable. I have a DC unit on a different tank and never change the setting for which was a waste for me to have such capability.

How come?

DC pumps have no value on a skimmer as the flow rate doesn't need to be changed. They're more expensive and the controller is just one more piece of equipment that can fail.
