No I don't see it being worth it. U can all ways fix sump if ur sump water level goes up and down.

I am currently not running a recirculating, and can't wait to get my Avast CS1 in next week....my current SWC freaks out with any change in water depth.. When I turn it off to do a water change then back n take a day or 2 to get back into regular mode...it's really aggravating, which is part if what's making me buy a whole new skimmer...
And my sump only fluctuates enough for my ato to kick on and off which is less than an inch and it freaks the skimmer out....not really anything can be done about that...

You needed an answer in the poll that says 'it depends'.

I feed 2 big systems into 2 big sump/refugiums and I gravity feed the skimmers directly from the DT and dump out in the sump. I wouldn't have anything but a recirculating skimmer. But for smaller system and a sump where you can control the skimmer height (or water height) you don't need it.

I have the recirculating skimmer you are talking about. I love it. That skimmer pulls some nasty skimate!!!

recirc is the way to go. i have an ASMg3 with a recirc mod and its the best thing i could have done. dont have to worry about my water level fluctuating the day and i come home to my skimmer doing jack. i set it and i can leave it for like 2 days withhout an adjustment. without the recirc im readjusting it say twice a day.
