hey guys,
Quick question about bubble tips.
I recently purchased one from my lfs it was a gbta about 3-4 inches across. He was there for quite sometime so I decided I would snag him.
I drip acclimated him for an 1 1/2 hours and left him in for the night he moved to the back of the tank and hid behind a rock a few days went by and he was plump but he wouldn't move to the light so I eventually just turned the rock and faced him to the front he seems okay for a couple of days then I noticed what seemed to me the beginning processes of a split.
Well now he's back to hiding under a rock in the back of the tank and I'm not sure what to do with him. The night before he moved to the back for the second time I attempted feeding him some mysis shrimp and the next morning he was gone and now he's behind the rock and I'm not sure what to do.
My water parameters are on the spot I do 1-2 water changes a week and he is currently in a 29 gallon biocube. From what I can see he's almost In a midsPlit but he is behind the rocks so I don't want to disturb him anymore.
Any advice? I have t I other bubble tips who are doing just fine growing more and more everyday but he seems to be the odd one out.
Thanks

It's not unusual for a new bta to take some time to settle in. Hiding, moving, splitting can all be common stress reactions. I would just leave it be, not feed it, cover your power heads, and wait for it to calm down. I "joy" of anemones is the futility of getting them to stay where you think the ought to be. :)

let it be, i had one hide for three weeks come out for a month go back into hiding for another three weeks and has finally settled in... my other two never hid or stressed

best of luck

and this is it a month later

Let them do their thing and just keep the water clean and stable

not to attempt to hijack but how long until you can uncover your power heads again? I lost a new RBTA with unconvered power heads.

biocube 14? 29? a bta can outgrow a biocube 14 if cared for properly.
just put foam covers over your powerheads and you're good to go
i keep flow off for the first day so they can settle
