Just like the title says. I will be starting a cycle on my new 200G using all dry marco rocks. This will be my first time at trying to jump start a cycle. I know some people have had some good luck with these products and adding small amounts of ammonia. I'm looking for peoples first hand experience and recomenation on the product they liked and why.

Thanks!

I am currently using microbacter7 for my new 180 setup. I was told it would help with my cycle and keep the system stable. Now I am on day #6 and still have not seen any spikes.

Microbacter7 for me to. Use it in all my systems. One of the best products to get a tank going quickly. When I need to setup a tank fast, always the product I grab.

Now I should have said I am also using 200lbs of LR and 40lbs of LS. But I have yet to see any spikes.

+1 microbacter or nitrabac but microbacter if you can readily get it

I also use MB7. I setup my biocube on June 10th and added MB7 daily until i ran out, i dosed it for about 2 weeks. At the 3 week mark my nitrates were decreasing so it sped up my cycle by a few weeks i'd say.

Buy like 10 lbs of live rock to start the cycle. Or else, you need an ammonia source eg. shrimp, ammonia drops, etc.
Or, you could do Dr. Tim's One and Only, however, for 200 gallons, that's going to be a lot of Dr. Tim's. ($95 for a 240 gallon solution)

Good luck!

Yep I just planed on using ammonia. I have a few pieces of seed rock as well.

Sounds like allot of folks like microbacter7. So my next question is that one that has to be over nighted by mail like the 900 stuff that MarcoRocks sales? My understanding is that the really good stuff must be kept cool up until the time its used. I'm trying to avoid the $30 shipping fee to have something over nighted but if this is the best way to go I suppose Ill have to.

Thanks for all the advice!
