I am taking a vacation and thinking of going diving to a coral reef, wanted to know what is a very good camera for underwater, anyone have one that they could recommand.

thanks

I absolutely love my pentax wpi... i think the newest one is a w60 or something like that... but I use it both in my tanks for decent macro pics, and I drag it through caves on a regular basis (my other hobby) and it holds up remarkably well

I have had great luck with the Olypus Stylus cameras. I have a 1030SW, but I think they have a newer model out. Waterproof, shockproof, impact resistant, and freezeproof. Pretty good camera for those of us outdoor types.

Im tagging along for the information.

We have looked at the cameras but 33ft seems most the olympus will go out of the box. I am trying to find something that we can take atleast 60 feet and more.

I'm currently working with the Olympus Tough 6000... if you're going deep, I would recommend the Tough 8000 for deeper waters... :)

I'll let the pics speak for themselves...

I need to practice on getting a farther shot... my tank is not mature enough to take farther underwater shots... I would say that it's decent for macros... the only color that I have a hard time on picking up is yellow... :)

Marvin,

Could you help me out with how you're getting such good shots with that camera? I've got the same one and all of the photos come out very noisy (grainy). To the point where I am thinking about taking it back to Best Buy. The white balance is HORRIBLE.

A buddy of mine has the Canon D10, and it takes amazing pics. Although, it seems Marv's camera isn't too shabby either, lol.
