Can you guys recommend me a good DC return pump for my 120 gallon with 40 gallon sump build? Obviously I would like it to be quiet and reliable and not the most expensive one on the market.

Thanks

Seth.

I like the Jaboa DC pumps. Buy bigger then what you need and one can always adjust down the flow. What type of over flow are you thinking of going with?

You have lots of options for that size tank provided the sump is in the space right below the tank and not in the basement or something. I personally would look at sicce adv 7.0 or 9.0 or reef octopus varios pumps. I haven't had any luck with jebao, but I'm pretty hard on equipment and don't like to clean pumps ever. For the price though, they are an attractive option.

There's maybe a dozen or more options for your setup. The 2 brands I recommended are where I would look, but certainly there are other's that could perform well. How much head pressure and gph are you looking for?

As far as the type of overflow, I’m not sure. I just bought the tank second hand and it is a single overflow with holes drilled for a 1.5” drain and 3/4” return that they had split into 2 lines inside the overflow based on the plumbing that came with it. The sump and pump will be directly under the aquarium in the stand. I had thought about the Jebao but hearing people recommend against them has made me have second thoughts. If they could be an issue I rather not cheap out and regret it later. I work 24 hour shifts every other day so reliability would make me more comfortable.

I'm running a jabeo dct 15000 on my 125 and 40 b it runs my chiller both tanks brs media reactor . Love the pump

I've had 2 jebao dc return pumps. Neither one of them made it a year. Maybe bad luck? I also dose sodium hydroxide, which pumps don't like and never cleaned them, so there's that? I have heard lots of good things about the reef octopus varios pumps, if I ever need a dc return pump with lower head pressure (sump under the tank directly) that is the direction I would go personally. I'm sure lots of guys/gals will chime in though! :)

I do use jebao dc powerheads and have had those do pretty well for me. Lasting much longer than the return pumps I had. But I was also forced to clean them because I could see they were covered in coraline and other algae.
