Recommend me a QUIET skimmer

I have a 40 breeder tank that I have been contemplating buying a skimmer for. It would need to be a HOB, be quiet, and be reliable. Thanks.:nerd:

yea tunze are pretty quiet...........i have a remora pro with a mag5 pump......its not noisy but you can hear it.........honestly i am use to the sound so i have no problem sleeping with the skimmer running in my room.

Depends of the bio-load, but if you can scrounge a few extra bucks I would go for one of these:

The Tunze 9002 - 9010 are hang on tank skimmers that require an ATO to maintain the water level, just in case that is a consideration for you. Moderate fluctuations from the water line on the body of skimmer will affect performance.

Thanks for the link, and good to know, as I do not yet have a ATO. I have always read good reviews on Octo HOB skimmers, would any of them work and are they quiet?

you want quiet. So the atb, deltec and tunze are the quietest of the bunch. But from $150 to $600 more than just a couple nucks more.

Can't speak to the H2, but my WM AS-200 is quiet and skims like a beast.

just got the octopus bh 1000 and love it. it is on my solana so there is a little noise from the return of the skimmer. the external pump and bubble plate are what sold me

I have the Deltec MCE-300 and it's super quiet and seems to skim well. I use it mostly on my QT at this point ....

Look for them used, you can usually pick one up for about $200 or $250.

I use the Tunze 9010 as well and they do the job and is super quiet.
