Hey I need a skimmer for my frag tank which is about 60 gallons. I don't want to go overboard because I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I do want it to do the job.

Thanks!

octopus 200! lol might be over kill thou! i use it on my 180 which has a 60 gallon sump 100 gallon fuge and is connected to my 55 frag tank, and man its amazing! so umm yea after reading what i just wrote its over kill lol

Well, are you looking for an in-sump skimmer? I know that people on this site seem to have a taste for high end skimmers (not that I can blame them) but I don't have the money for one of those beauties...
I have been happy with my Coralife 125 for a small tank. I know that they are a pretty low end skimmer comparatively but they work well with little extra adjustment. I actually have two of them in series on my 180 gal reef and, with consistant H2O changes I keep nitrates unmeasurable.

I tech 100 skimmer is nice works very well and somewhsat cheap. Oh and mad in the USA.

I-Tech 100 all the way .If it'll fit in the sump space . If sump real estate is an issue then it's a MSX 160 .

Vertex IN-100 new series they are pretty cheap and very good there is a side by side on the Atb 840 vs the Vertex IN-100 preform by jeremy from PA

Rev, I don't have a skimmer or calcium reactor on my frag tank. What I have been doing is to use Randy's two part formula on the frag tank and "recycle" water change water.

I have a 40 - 60 gallon frag tank with sump (depending on how you measure it). I used Randy's formula to keep the alk up and I do weekly water changes. I remove 15 gallons of water from the frag tank and replace it with the water change water from the display tanks (the display tanks get the "new" water). That has been working very well for me.

The frag tank has a lot of rubble in the sump for biological filtration.

My buddy said you can go with a Bubble Magnus NA6 they only cost 140bux

Wow, Lots of opinions here. for a 65g, depends on sump size and what you want to do. I would look a something around the same as my 57g rimless. If you have a room a atb 840 would be great. a little smaller then look at the vertex in 100. But here is a short list of ones I would consider
BK mini 160
atb 840
WM s or as 150
Vertex in 100
msx 160

all have different price tags but also have different features. Just my two cents

Mojo~

If you go with a MSX skimmer let me know. I can get you a good deal on one.

I have a used Aqua C Remora on my 55g display and it has worked out great for me for that size tank. Cheap, uncomplicated, so there is not much to go wrong. These are fairly easy to find since people are constantly upgrading to bigger tanks from this size range. My .02
