Afternoon (or whatever it is where ever you are reading this)

I have recently upgraded two Nano's to a larger system (34G) the Red Sea Max 130D, and am currently fighting off the uglies. However that is beside the point. I currently have a Ocellaris Clownfish and Tailspot Blenny in the 34G, I have a pair of Yellow Watchmen Gobies (One White one Yellow) that entered my QT system Monday.

I am after a Wrasse to complete the stocking for this tank, I would like something that could act as my "Centrepiece Fish", so needs to be active and colourful. Initially leaning towards Flasher and Fairy Wrasses but keep seeing recommended size as 90 Gallons Plus.

Have seen a Tanaka's Wrasse which while nice is more of a background specimen

Anything that could be considered a centrepiece in this small a tank?

So popped into my LFS and they can order me in a Lineatus Fairy Wrasse which looks amazing and have been told would be perfect for my tank. So happy.

Lots of reading to do tonight

You’ve probably seen this, but here ya go anyway. BTW I think the tank is too small for a fairy.

Your tank is a little on the small side (as is mine), but I have a Melanurus wrasse in my 40B that is awesome. One of my favorite fish, tons of personality, VERY active, and get along well with others.

I hadn't so thank you. Not really that technologically savvy.

First thing I saw was 90g minimum

Thanks, definately different colours to anything that I have currently. Will read up about those and see if ones local I can watch for a while.

you could do a pink streak wrasse. Not too many your gonna find for a 34 gallon

I had seen those and the Possums (Tanaka) and was one of the fallback options. Wanted to see if I could get something showy.

Away from Wrasses what could I add as the centrepiece fish? I dont want a Royal Gramma. Thought about a False Gramma but no dont think I'm up to that after a lot of reading.

Dunno

Cirrhilabrus wrasse are too large for the system. You might be able to get away with a small flasher like a McCosker's.

I was sat here hoping someone would say that or Lubbocks Wrasse.

You may get away with a Noako fairy wrasse They are one of the smaller fairies but 34g may still be to small

All my opinion of course base on my experience
Have a Fairy, Lubbock, Possum, and Pink Streak in a RSR250.
Pink Streak - won't be the centerpiece, very shy fish, hides most of the day.
Possum - overall my favorite of all the wrasses, cruises around the tank drunk all day
Lubbock - most colorful fish in the tank, would probably work in a 34G. Out all day
Fairy - last choice for this size tank. Out all day

You guys got tank build threads I can browse?

Okay guys I just found the buttons. I got this.

I definitely wouldn't recommend a Melanurus for that size of a tank. I have one that is between 3-4 inches in length and still has a ways to grow and it uses every inch of my 90 gallon. I kept it for a few months as a very young juvie in my 36 gallon bowfront, but I definitely wouldn't have done it long term. The Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse would be the best choice if you want a center piece fish that will do okay long term (they don't get very big).

Thanks, I am thinking that I might just do a couple of Possum Wrasses, maybe a white banded and Tanaka's. Doesn't seem to be that much that will thrive in this sized tank sadly.

Could I do one of each of;
Yellow Banded Possum
White Banded Possum
Tanaka Possum
Pink Streak Wrasse

Or is that too much Bioload with Clown, Tailspot and Watchman?

Swap two possums out for a Lubbock.

Clownfish
Gold Streak Blenny
Lubbocks Wrasse
Pink Streak Wrasse
Possum Wrasse
(Nano)Goby and Shrimp pair? Can most likely trade/sell for smaller bio load at later date
