So, I have 2 400wt metal halide lights over a 200gl 4'x3' sps dominated aquarium and I'm looking for apex controllable Actinic strip lighting that will ramp up in the morning and down in the evening. I am potentially interested in smaller whites as well to transition with the halides. What are the best choices out there for this purpose, and what are the best cost effective choices as well?

Any of the plain strips should do it....Current's TrueLumen Pro, Hamilton Technology, Reefbrites, et al. I think I'd go for a 50/50 or other blended strip vs all-actinic and separate whites, personally.

For example:
  1. Begin the day with 30 minutes for LED sunrise, then the halides kick on for 5-6 hours (whatever you do).
(LED's can turn off at this point...the effect is moot under the halides)
  2. Then at the end of the day the LED's come on and the halides kick off.
  3. End the day with 30 minutes of LED rampdown for sunset.

If I wanted to use the true lumen pro strips, how do I control the ramping/dimmability with the apex?

I think post #10 on another thread has the info on that. Same protocol for Hamilton or Reefbrite (etc)...
