Recommendation for a DC return pump

What’s your budget and target turnover rate? Also, do you know what your head loss will be?

Yep, assuming sump in stand (a reasonable assumption in most cases) I'd probably go with either the Vectra S1 or the new tunze/sicce.

Varios but if want to go cheaper for comparable quality ex the water level shutoff can consider Skimz QP. I've had it running for about a year now, dead silent, no problems.

I just got in the jebao dcp 10000 and it is working great. Running it at 40% power. You could go one of the smaller pumps they offer. Cost was the reason I chose.

I had a Current eFlux 1900 and a now run a Varios-4 on my 75g. The tank is setup on my living room, and noise level is priority to me over anything else on my equipment. Both move some serious water (more than usually required on a 75), but IME the Varios is definitely quieter. The Varios produces a lower pitched humming (very subtle, inaudible from a few feet) whereas the Current is more high pitched

More than what is needed for 75g, but I have the Vectra L1 as a closed loop pump and the Varios 6 on my protein skimmer. Both are solid, quiet, and trouble free 6 months in. Great customer service from Ecotech too, something to consider.

I'm running a Current eFlux too... Sump is in a converted closet, so I'm insulated from the noise somewhat, but I haven't experienced it as loud. Reliable, so far... been on the tank for what, 8 months now? Not exactly a long term test, but so far so good. Price was right.

I did not have good luck with Jebao. When I first re-entered the hobby a couple of years back, I bought a Jebao return pump, and a Jebao wave pump. The wave pump died in under 6 months, the return pump lasted 8 months. I understand my results are not universal, but I won't be buying Jebao again.

I would've contacted current. I don't even know the pump is running. Both good choices though.

I've had 3 jebao wave makers for over a year and no issues. Price is right even if I have to replace each year. I have 2 of another cheaper brand and they've been good as well.

I did, they sent another pump and the noise level was the same for about a month. I love Current products, have the wavemaker and lights also, was looking forward to add the eFlux to the existing system.
I'm not saying it's loud though, it is really quiet actually. But the Varios is even quieter IMO.
Maybe my setup (open-back stand on a large cathedral ceiling room) helps echoing, and I'm still more satisfied with the Varios noise level

Varios, yes.
If on a budget Jebao DC is good as is Reef octopus. Reliability is worth more than price. Nothing like having a pump quit and leaving you hanging persay

Just curious as I am also looking to replace return pump. But why dc? What is the advantsge? I'm looking at a dcs pump also. Is the noise level comparable to a mag? It's in my bedroom so I too must think of noise

I prefer DC pumps for the control and there very quite.
