Wasn't sure where the proper location for this post should be; I tried the North Texas club forum but its been dead. Mods please move if needed.

My wife and I just put an offer on a new house, and the one thing we have agreed upon is paying someone to move our tank. We live North Texas, and will be moving around 20 miles from our current house in South Arlington to North Richland Hills. If anyone has used a company to move a tank before, we'd love some recommendations.

I used to live in Corsicana. in your area is "the true percula" store they will move it and if needed store your livestock. cant find their card with their address and phone number but hope this helps.

OP play much wolfenstein, loved that game!

that looks right its in the "strip mall" moved to Idaho three years ago so this is from memory but they are good people and will go the extra mile to help you

With regards to moving the tank, it's not that it's a hard thing to do but, you really need to plan it out and have a few things in place prior to attempting it... This is how I have done it in the past 3moves for friends and never had major issues.

Some, if not all of the stuff below you might already have, also use as much of the original tanks water as you can keep...

Moving containers
(5-gallon bucket cleaned, bet you have a surplus from all the salt you've used?)
Holding tank/s (nothing special, brute trash can are you friend)
Air-pump and Stone (this is just to aerate the water in the holding tank while the new tank settles)
Heater and/or fans (this is just to keep the water in the holding tanks at proper level, might not be needed)
Gloves (seems silly but, I got a nasty sting from the 2nd tank I moved think I crushed a bristle worm or something)
Tupperware Containers (used for capturing livestock, I don't like nets, and don't let the wife see you lol)

Note: If you are going to leave livestock in the holding container for a prolonged time, and have corals also, you should consider things like lighting, skimming, activated carbon, temp-probe etc.

My last move, I purchased a 100 g poly tank that they use for livestock. Moved all of my coral and critters in there on the first day. I set a skimmer up, lights and pumps for flow. Don't forget the heater and ATO also.
This gave me time to break down the display, move it, rework my plumbing to fix what I didn't like the first time, rewire, and let the sand settle before I put everything back in. Watch out for the intakes on any pumps, I lost a 6 year old clown, my stupidity..
I'm coming up on another move in the next year or two and I'm dreading moving the upgraded tank. But if it comes together as planned, it may be an easier move this next time..

Thanks for the suggestions.

143MPCo, my last name is Wolfe, so Wolfenstein has been a nickname of mine for quite some time.

I'm familiar with True Percula; have spent lots of time and money at that place.

As much as I would like to do to it myself, this is the one thing about the move that I want to go as flawlessly as possible; especially since we just got this tank up and going within the last year and have stocked it pretty heavily.

Good luck with the move, post up some pictures of the process?

I will definitely try to remember to do so; I typically get caught up in the actual project and forget to document it.
