What do people use as a filter media in sump to control nitrates? I used Seachem Matrix but it didnt really make a dent so looking to try a different media, any recommendations? My nitrate is currently 35-40 but want it ideally at 10-20 and dont want to go down chemical route.

I build a DIY algae turf scrubber. Keep in sump works great to prevent algae in the display

I'm using Chemi Pure Blue in my tanks, but I don't consider it to be a major nitrate reducer compared to other things in the sump. Really the skimmer and chaeto are carrying most of the weight. An over sized skimmer sounds like it would be the easiest choice, but I could be off on that..

I have an oversized skimmer, Deltec 1000i in a reefer 425xl. This is a new start after my crash so im looking at different options for things which wasnt quite right with my old version. I used chaeto on my old system but got fed up with bits getting in pump and skimmer, have used matrix but found it didnt really do the job. I might start looking into carbon dosing but would rather use it as a last resort.
