set up a 34 gl frag tank..Plan on adding a few hermits,and a few snails.. Wondering what you guys think about adding a few small fish as part of the clean up crew.Any ideas would be great..Thanks Ed

The 6-line is in his display, so he wanted a different type of fish for his frag tank
Scooter blenny or spotted mandarin for flat worms-
nix the sixline (due to agressiveness)- and add yellow coris for zoa eating hitchhikers-
yellow eye kole tang, or mimic chocolate, and sand blenny if glass bottom or ghost goby is sand bottom for algae control.
also a few- 3 good dither fish ( green chromis, Vanderbilt chromis, or lined cardinals )- reason: these fish will swim around and keep the other fish active- dither fish are "security systems" of the reef- other fish such as tangs, wrasses, blennys, angels.... use ditherfish as for a warning sign for danger.

Early in the morning LOL, haven't yet drank coffee at work... just saw 6line and another wrasse.... put 2 and 2 together at that second without realizing that.
But if you want a work horse for predation, I'd go with a yellow coris wrasse. constantly looks for food, inspects all incoming frags, even while still in your hands being placed into the tank. doesn't bother other inhabitants, I have a bunch of scarlet hermits and blue knuckled that he doesn't bother, even a couple of pom pom crabs.

had a coris wrasse in my frag tank and was an excellent addition. to bad he recently commited suicide.

Interesting suggestions.. Take note of the tank size.
I wouldn't suggest a dragonette for any frag tank. A lined wrasse will be a better fish 10 fold for pests.... Nix the coris wrasse unless you plan on keeping a sandbed in your frag tank, if that is the case.. prepare to have your corals buried on the regular. Keeping a burrowing wrasse in a barebottom tank is a horrible thing to do. In a nano-frag tank you need to keep in mind that the fish you add, are going to put an impact on your water quality... the more fish, the more problems you are going to face. If you plan on keeping a tang, get a much larger tank... 34g is not gonna cut it. As far as having a 6 line in the display already, keep in mind... a frag tank is for growing corals!! You want to have the best set up to do so. If you are wanting another reef tank, then do just that.

I have a 30 breeder and have Lawn-mower blenny that helps me keep the frag plugs clean of algae, although some times he moves them around and I have to
straighten them out. And when I stick my hand in there its fair game! LOL the little bugger is only 3 inches long but that doesn't stop him from biting me every time!

Blennies are horrible frag tank fish as well, some of them nip... and most of them will move/flip stuff around. Might not seem like a big deal now, but imagine a fully stocked SPS frag section, and not imagine a blenny flinging a favia frag into the middle of it. I've had it happen several times.
Every fish serves a purpose, every fish also has it's bad qualities. Most reef fish are no good for a propagation tank.

Just added a small foxface to my 33 frag tank. He is doing a bang up job on the various problem algeas . Gonna make my life a lot easier.Have spent countless hours over the last year trying to keep the frags and the racks clean.
