The problem I have is the purple tang that I have will only eat if the pellets make it to the second half bottom of the tank...
For some reason this is the only fish that will not eat from the surface floating food!!!

The tangs in my video are much the same. They wont come to the surface. Thus the fast sinking pellets work best in my situation.

I don't find feeder rings to be very helpful but those that attach magnetically can be depended on to stay in place. I have tried almost every type of food available and it either falls to the sand bed almost immediately where it is eaten only by shrimp and crabs, or it floats into the overflow.
I am trying to find a food that I can count on to fall slowly enough so the fish can get to it before it reaches the sand. I have a model intended for feeding frozen food and it works with frozen as long as I am there to put in small pieces of frozen at a time. When home, I feed a variety of foods very slowly using a pipette so I can make sure that everyone gets to each regardless of whether they eat from the top, middle or bottom and whether they are fast or slow.
