Thanks for all of the great info all! I have been feeding reef roids and red sea A+B every 3rd day or so. ( spot feeding in small amounts) and keeping an eye on my main levels. KH has been dropping from 8.4 to 7.6 regularly every two days. Dose 10ml (ESV 2 part ALK) every 2nd day, check an hour or so later and is right back up to 8.4. CA has been steady at 445 without any dosing, and MG has been steady at 1520. I have not done a water change in the last 5-6 months the tank has been up, except for replacing FSW during maintenance. Bio load is well stocked for a newer tank at 9 fish + 5 emeralds and 2 Shrimp (shrimp are moulting at least once every week or two). Ammonia = 0, Nitrite = 0, Nitrate = barely shows up on RS test kit. I feed the tank sea veggies every day in the morning, and alternate between Omega flake / Frozen mysis or brine in the evenings. The frags are looking good (puffy and colorful) but not open much. I see a few tentacles out at night, not many on either. They were opened fully, every night for the first few days I brought them home from the LFS. Wondering if they were just hungry when I first got em and are now satisfied, or if something is wrong with my system? I have 2 radion g30's, both set to only 8% max peak, and on for 8 hrs a day, and then down to 1% for 4 hrs.

Target feed the tentacles mysis at night. They will grow like crazy and look super happy all the time.

Should I try to feed even if they are completely closed or wait till I see tentacles? note, even when closed they look puffy and colorful. Do they close if they are not "hungry" or are they generally always open at night (or always) even if they are full and healthy?

They should always be open at night, during the day it’s 50/50. Puffy and colorful is good. Don’t feed if there’s no tentacles. I target feed mine 3 nights a week. Each head gets a mysis. I’ve had great growth doing this. 3x the heads in 10months.

I keep my radions on at 1% from 5pm to midnight, then off. (blue spectrum) This is after they ramp down from 8% during the day. could this be messing up their photo cycle? I like to still see the colors of the tank later into the evening. Doesn't help i'm 100% a night owl!
