What skimmer would you guys recommend for a 92g corner reef tank? I have a pair of clowns, purple tang, magnificent foxface, copperband butterfly and a diamond goby. I have a smaller sump and not a ton of space for a massive skimmer.

I’m no expert but when I purchased mine I wanted it to not be heard- that was priority for me, so I went with the nyos quantum. I have a 180g and I went with the 220 size which i could have gone smaller but I knew I wanted more bio load capacity. It is whisper quiet and works really well.

Try a Simplicity Skimmer. I think they’re an above average skimmer, but cost less than the name brands.

My simplicity was an alright skimmer, but had some design features that I was not thrilled with. You could also look at the Coral Box skimmers from Reef Breeders. I am quite impressed with mine so far. It is very quiet, comes with a float switch for the Skimmer cup (shuts off skimmer when cup fills up), and uses a simple "gate valve" design instead of a wedge pipe for skimmer adjustment. My D300+ was pulling black coffee colored skimmate in just a couple days.

I just ordered a Hydor. On sale at BRS (-20%). Wanted small footprint, pump is in the body. Wanted quiet, it's DC. Would have probably went with Simplicity if the Hydor wasn't on sale. Coral Box was a no go because they were out of stock.

Thanks for the replies I'll take everything into consideration and see what I can find

Also look into the bubble magus elite line. The regular bubble magus line is cheap with cheap pumps, but the elite line adds a nice proven pump in a sicce.

ipsouth1978 do you think the 300 would be good on a 92 or should I go with the 500

I think that all depends on your planned stocking level. If you have a low-med stocked tank, I think the 300 would work well. If you are looking to go heavily stocked, then I would go with the 500.

Thanks appreciate the input I like the fact of a float switch and the simplicity

recently upgraded my sump to BM curve 5 on 93 cube w similar bioload as yours, maybe couple more smaller fish and so far so good. Dead silent w small footprint (7.5"x8") too.

I had the Curve 5 Elite previously, and it was an OK skimmer with a great pump. My issue was that it was WAY too finicky. I was CONSTANTLY having to make adjustments or it would not skim at all or completely overflow the cup. I eventually just removed it and went skimmerless.
