recreating winter in the reef tank

I've decided I want to try this in my tank and have started making a research list for me to run through before I start. Here's my list and I wanted to see if you all had any points I should research? Thanks

Winters effect on:
Salinity
Plankton (zoo and phyto) availability
other foods
Temperature

There's no winter in the tropics.

If you do want to mimic what happens in locations further from the equator, it will be totally location dependent, so you should look for info on some location you want to mimic.

Salinity doesn't generally change with seasons unless it is near a river outlet that gets seasonal changes in rainfall.

Look for articles video and info from Sandy Troutwein. She's at the Aquarium of the pacific. It'll also lead you to other articles on seasonality and breeding. Her talk at the 2016 macna was eye opening and poorly titled (so I got front row in a nearly empty room)

It appears to be temperature and light cycle mainly. Difficult to donkinda. Folks report mixed success.
Really fascinating stuff though.

Lol, I think i started realizing this when all my google searches for "How does winter affect the sea" kept getting changed to "How does the sea affect winter".

Thanks, I'll check as I think my tank is mostly from Indonesia (minus the Hawaiian feather dusters and sea slug)
