so i have some reddish algae and then bubbles that collect on this algae. everything else is doing all and all parameters are fine. they are easy to remove with just the wave of the hand but is there another way to remove them? or what could be out of whack?

CYNO! i had a battle with it last year! same as you everything looked good, but it would keep coming back. after doing alot of homework i found that mine was a lighting problem. see i'm kinda dumb, i set my tank right in front of a large window that always faces the sun. :] my mom lives with me and feeds my tank, everyday she went to feed she would open up the shades behind our tank. anyway i switched some bulbs in our lights and cut back on the lighting cycle, and have been cyno free for a year now.

makes perfect sense. the only place it is located is where the morning sun comes thru the blinds and hits the tank in the other room.
thanks!!!
but i guess all in all it is no big deal just a nuisance!!!

what ever u do dont use Chemiclean Aquarium Treatment. my LFS sold it to me for a bad red slime out brake and it did more harm then good. It killed my serpent star, 5 herment crabs, 3 turbo snals and my coral did not open for a week. I should have know better, anything that needs a a 20% wc after 24 hours and "can not be held liable for damage" writen on the back is not worth trying.

Definitely sounds like cyanobacteria. I recently had a little bit in my tank. I was able to rid it through water change. I would try to siphon most of it out. For other reasons I had my lights off for a longer period of time so I feel like that added in stopping it from coming back. It can be from a variety of things. I just had to get my water parameters stable and did some standard cleaning maintenance things. I feel like everyone encounters it at some point.

Make sure the area is getting good flow. I had cyano a few months ago and LFS said to adjust flow in the area. I siphoned most of it out and adjusted the power heads, about a week later all was clear.
