Red algae ID. Not Cyano

Every once in a while I run across something I've never had or seen in my years of reefing. I've developed this red algae on my rock and I'm not sure what I'm dealing with. It does not blow off and will not brush off with toothbrush. I've been through several Algae Id pictures and closest thing I can find is Cotton Candy algae, however I have no puffy tufts anywhere. I have several Mexican turbo snails and a Urchin in QT for a few more days. Whatever this is seems to have no affect on coral and everything is thriving. Thoughts anyone??? Thanks in advance.

After seeing your response, just to double check, I just tried to brush some off. Confirmed it definitely does not brush off. With magnify glass it looks slightly fuzzy. To the touch it feels just like coralline or rock. Can't really feel anything.

Sounds like perhaps just a different species of coralline establishing itself. I've got red ones, purple, pink, ...

It's very possible. I'm adding some Mexican Turbo's and see what happens. I have red Coraline in my other tanks but this seems a bit off.

Did you ever identify this?

I have the same, under blues it looks a deep red, it's slimey / like velvet but dosnt brush off with a tooth brush

Never got a positive Id. I assumed it was cotton candy algae. I added some Mexican Turbo snails and a Tuxedo urchin and It's nearly eliminated as of today. Sounds the same, I was unable to brush it off.
