Red algae on protein skimmer.

On my pump I have reddish brown algae.

Try to block light from hitting your skimmer and pump!
 
I have a red type similar.
It came in on live rock as red coralline?
Mine grows on powerheads high flow area and bottom of the tank low flow area and the back wall.
It is not cyano as it can not be blown off.
It can be removed with a scotchbrite pad though. It is very stubborn.
It also grows on silicone areas on the bottom of the tank.

That's red coralline
 
You mean taking care of your tank? Or are you referring to having adequate flow in an established tank with a good cuc?
This right here is the hobby in a nutshell. Anyone who says they never get weird algae are the people who thoroughly scrub everything just before taking a FTS and showing off their abnormally perfect apex “reef convention display board”.
