Hi,
I've been having patches of red algae on the sand and the glass for some time, now, which I cleaned off we weekly/bi-weekly water changes, but lately it's getting out of hand. I assumed it was new tank uglies, but it's not showing any signs of improvement. So far, it's only been on the glass and in one smaller corner of the tank, and appeared after about 1.5 weeks, but now it's spreading more rapidly - much faster (within 1 week of water change) and to a much larger area on the sandbed.
Tank is about 5 months old, 4 months fish-in.
I only have two fish (one trigger, one blenny), no corals or other invertebrates.
At this point, should I treat it with something? Could that be harmful for the fish?
Light out for 3 days?
I can't get water parameters other than ammonia (which is fine) right now, as I don't have a master kit.
Any help is much appreciated.
PS: I see little blenny kisses on the glass - is the red algae harmful for my blenny?
