I bought some red algae for food off of ebay to put in the refugium. It smells pretty bad though from the bag, I am floating it right now; but, I think I should probably not put it in or does it just smell?

Thanks!

I have some red algae that grows on my turf scrubber that smells up the whole room. Is it a dead smell or something different?

Hey it smells kind of like Iron and old spinach if that makes any sense? It's still floating right now going to make the call here tonight if I should put it in or not.

It's the edible kind Dragons Breath sorry should have specified that earlier.

Basically, I don't want to kill it by letting it stay in the bag much longer, but I also really don't want to crash my tank... any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Its kelp. They all smell bad and if you ever have walked a beach where there is kelp and seaweed ashore, this smell becomes familiar. Rinse it and drop it in,
