I have a 120 gallon tank that is about 10 weeks old. I am seeing signs of red algae. Is this normal or is it something to be concerned about? I did add 2 bottles of coralline algae about 6 weeks ago but that was supposed to be pink and purple so I don’t think that is it.

Thank you , when the lights come on ill take a picture. It is just starting to appear on the rocks. I do have quite a lot of brown algae as well. Fortunately I just received my clean up crew yesterday. Several hermits and a variety of snails. I am setting up to do a earlier than normal 10% water change And I will probably add some vibrant after the water change. My nitrates are a little high at 15. Alk is a little low at 6.5 hence the early water change.

Stuff will pop up in the early stages of everyone gets cyano at some point it’s not a big deal it will go away and if you want to be aggressive about it run chemi clean. I would personally for now just do small water changes weekly and let the tank mature out. You got corals in the tank? I ask because of alk consumption

7/15 test results alk 6.5, nitrate 15-20, phosphate 0.8, calc 423 mag 1200,
the mag test is questionable due to potential operator error on my part..
At some point I should send out a sample and have a more accurate test done. Who do I send the sample to. Do you just set it up via email?
