ok so...... I am making some spray cleaners for my skimmers...
in order to hook these up I need to use a red brass fitting.
I know am not pose to use copper fittings in our tanks account of leaching...
I'd only be running water thru these for about 10min a day and they would not be sitting in the water...
is this going to cause a problem???
any input would be great
thanks guys

Bad idea in my opinion. You are still going to get metals in your water if it is close enough to spray in your skimmer. Why not use something like a swabbie from avast marine or other similar product?

cost as I am running two skimmers.....
the brass would be mounted outside of the skimmer
I can get a pic n post it tomarow
like a said I'd only me running water thru the fitting for about 10 miniutes a day

Me personally wouldn't sweat brass to much its a lot harder to leach brass than copper thats why they use it on well water sometimes even with low ph

I would love to do in plastic buuuuuuutt........
can not find a
1/4" fip to 3/8"fip in plastic.... :(

Have a good friend who is a plumber and also used to have a reef tank setup.. according to him the problem with brass is the quality in today's brass fittings.. He told me they now make brass with cheaper metals mixed in to keep costs down. While brass will not leach the cheaper add in metals will.. So brass fitting is not recommended anywhere in our systems.

mcmaster - carr part number 4837k11 gets you from 1/4" to 3/8" threaded but can then get the other pieces you need.
