I have had my anemone for about 2 months now and i noticed that it has white stringy looking stuff in some of the tentacles. It comes and goes so I know it isn't its coloration pattern.

The other thing that I am not sure about is the base was white when I got it and now it is more brown. Is this normal?
String can be seen in the top middle tentacle.

Here it is a few weeks later. You can see how dark the base has gotten.

Nothing is wrong with it,it may have lost some of its zoozantheli (forgive my spelling)for some reason. The stringy stuff i'm not to sure about,my nems have the same thing and are thriving. He'll be fine. Great looking nem btw;)

The increase in darkness of the base is likely from an increase in Zoos, not a decrease, and is honestly a sign of good health.

No idea what your white stringy thing is, but I have seen other pictures of people with them. Always looks like a worm to me, but honestly I'm not sure anybody knows what they are or what causes them.

I have read that the white stringy things are actually mesenterial filaments that go into the tentacles as a defense mechanism. Mine has those too and reminds me of looking through a regular light bulb. :) Just what I read somewhere, I am still searching for a definite answer.

Thanks for the feedback. I have been feeding my anemone every 2-3 days a chunk of silverside or squirting mysis into its tenticles. It is looking much happier and I am seeing tentacles growing again where they had fallen off. Today was the first day in a long time that it looked normal in the morning. Usually it is all shriveled up with deflated tenticles and today they were inflated so I think that it was starving. Thanks for the help!
