Red Bubble Algae

There are red bubbles on every single piece of rock in my tank now. I have manually removed all visible bubbles before but they have come right back and there is a lot more. After reading countless articles online about this red bubble algae it seems there is no way to remove it without starting all over. I am hoping to find a more reasonable approach here. I can only imagine what people go through with much larger tanks. Thanks for any advice!
