I just noticed that my corals edges have been retracted. I have a Pom Pom and a pistol shrimp. If there any way the interceptor wont kill them?

My tank is 40-50 gallons total. How much should I treat?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Only problem is I am leaving town Weds. If I do it tomorrow and do a WC after it think it will be ok?

-Dave

P.S - This sucks....

your corals will not die from the red bugs. i would just wait until you get back unless you're going to be gone for a long time.

the interceptor will not kill your bigger inverts unless you use a lot more than the recommended amount. in a 40-50 i would dose probably 1/5 of a large pill then do a 25% water change 5 hours or so later. i would then repeat 2 days later.

there are a lot of ways to do this. i've overdosed a lot by putting infected corals (and supporting rocks) in a bucket for like 12 hours. it probably killed my pods but the pom pom made it just fine.

all of this assumes you have red bugs. i assume you've seen them. they only attack acros and prefer certain types. i only ask because your symptoms also describe monti nudis.

Yes wait till you get back! Sorry bro.

also, don't get too down. red bugs are a joke. by far the easiest reef dilemma to treat :)

I have a friend that had an amazing SPS tank and the acros were absolutely covered in red bugs. It was this way for well over a year and the red bugs never hurt anything at all. They are a form of pod therefore I really dont think they do much or any harm. Typically a wrasse will take care of them or keep them at bay.
Most people with SPS have red bugs and dont even know it.

Yea I've only noticed them on my Red Planet, Purple Bonsai and Icefire. My Red Planet looks the worst ( which isnt to bad ). I'll hold off until I get back next Monday.

I have interceptor for 10-15 pound dog. Could this work instead of splitting a pill?

Should I do three different dosings?

Thanks again for all the help guys! R2R rocks :D

If Interceptor is overdosed in a treatment tank can it kill the coral or only the inverts living on the rock attached to the coral?

One last Q guys. I have interceptor for smaller dogs ( 11 - 25 ) pounds. Would this be ok to dose instead of splitting pills?

Thanks!

-Dave
