RED BUGS!!! :(

Yeah, order up some interceptor spectrum from Australian pet sites. Sentinel from your vet would work as well.

is sentinel the same dosing? I was planning on crushing 1 tablet of interceptor. running my skimmer, i read that you want to disconnect the tube to the air intake?? I have about 100 gal water column. I caught it early only two corals are affected but im afraid if i just treat those its just a quick fix as they will most likely become infected again. I dip religiously so kinda frustrating and i have about 4 grand in acros alone. Im despereate at this point lol

i dont think i want to wait to get anything from aussie sites....but if i go that route can i just dip the 2 infected in bayer until the interceptor shows up

yes bayer dip will work.
Non of the Vets around us had sentinel.
Interceptor worked fine in my tank. Just remember to remove inverts before treatment

That's surprising, it's a very common medication for dogs. It's not general inverts that are in danger, it's crustaceans.

yes yes, going to take out my crabs and shrimp. my vet doesnt have interceptor. do i want the for dogs 50-100lb tabs of the sentinel as well?? and one tablet per week for 3 weeks? and last question with bayer, ive always used revive but since they are already stressed i wanted to use something a little more gentle. whats the best dosage for that. planned on using a 500ml container. Thanks for all the help guys!

Fenbendazol as interceptor is no longer in production
If a person has interceptor in possession they are sitting on a gold mine for the aquarium world.

I've found bayer to be very Gentle on Acros up to 20-25ml per cup. If your worried about stress though 15ml per cup should kill them. Just make sure you rinse very very well...

great! thanks guys! got some sentinel from the vet. wasnt easy convincing them to sell me some as they couldnt do an examination, lol. do i do just the one tab? one tab of interceptor is supposed to treat 400 gal...i have a 100 gal water column, didnt know if sentinel is the same dose

if anyone is looking for interceptor but isnt in a hurry and extra money, heres what i found

I was also surprised about the sentinel as we have a dog and had that in past. They would only give me the interceptor. The vet was like what do you want it for and then she went and did her research after I explained it to her.

Nice catch on that Ike.. I meant to put inverts and crustaceans are suggested for removal. I removed all I could find.

thanks again, still...does anybody know if dosage is same for sentinel and interceptor? One tab a week for 3 weeks? gonna dose tonight

Hi to all, I have a problem with red bugs too, but have a big problem, in my country Costa Rica, cant find Intercept or sentinel, and look for a online order in USA, but in the sites i find the medication ask me for a vet paper, the sell its no free!, can anyone help me with a store where i can buy this with out the vet permit or some idea ?

I also had red bugs not too long ago, I did the bayer dip and killed a lot of them, but shortly after they began to repopulate my smooth skin acros again! I got a 6 line wrasse and he/she keeps them in check.....I havent seen a red bug in a while. I tried to get medication from the vet, but they wouldn't give me the time of day.....I even told them what it was for, and offered to bring in some literature....total BS!

In my country Greece we have another medicine like interceptor. It called Milbemax. It is the same like interceptor but with the half dosage:

Milbemax tablets for dogs (5-25kg):
12.5mg milbemycin oxime (dose range 0.5-2.5mg/kg)
125mg praziquantel (dose range 5-25mg/kg)

Interceptor Spectrum Tasty Chews containing
23mg milbemycin oxime and
228mg praziquantel in blue pack.

I have already use it one time out of three dosages ( once per week) and i have already saw very good results.
I haven't take out any shrimps and the only matter was about the cleaner shrimp which went o like she was drunk for 1-2 days but now it is ok. the dosage i used was 1/4 of the pill for 180 litre of water. ( i think i could use a little more.)

The result was after 8 hours the most of the red bugs were dead. Now i am waiting for their eggs to hach so i will kill them in the second week.

( i don't know if you can see the differences between the 2 days)

1 day before i start dosing

Not that it's completely or even remotely relevant to this thread, but the reason it's hard to find Sentinel in a lot of Vet offices is because there is no repellent component to the product. Your dog basically has to get bit for it to work. Many of the other products on the market do have some type of repellent action and thus most vets carry those instead. Why spend $10 on a flea pill when you will still see fleas on your dog if you can spend $12 and not have any? Doesn't make for good business when you sell a product to a customer to kill fleas and it only kinda does that.
