Red Cyano.? Diatoms? Ideas?

Hey all brief question, what is it? Half dies off at night and back in light, chemiclean didn’t get it but drove skimmer nuts. Nitrates at 12 ( high) phos at 0 all other parameters great according to Hanna and apex. Tank is 150 with 56 gallon sump, running UV as well ( flow not tested getting inline flow meter atm) tank is 7 months old and sps and lps growing great! Thoughts?

Could be dinoflagellates mixed with cyanobacteria.

Was going to run ROWA for silicates and turned whites near off today………not sure other than another RODI 25% water change …..? Microbacter?? Pods ( more) ?

Do you happen to have a microscope? It would make id easier and help determine correct actions to take

Also what are your parameters? 0ing out will cause dinos sometimes. Age of tank? Flow?

Flow is return plus 2 gyres at 70% and a mp40 at 70% , salinity 1.026 phos 0 nitrate 12, ,temp 78.5, PH 8.24, Alk 10.2, Ca 392, Mg 1280,, ORP 333, tank is 7 months fully cycled…. Have cheato and pods ect with CUC . NO Microscope but can get a cheap o I guess!

Don’t do water changes if you have dinos. It makes it worse. Start by checking with a microscope to find out what it is.

Gotta figure out which dino it is first.. the norm would be a uv light, and dosing silicates to create a diatom bloom to outcompete the Dino’s. Along side raising your nitrates and phosphates.

Yeah ty running UV and ordering a flow meter….no idea what actual rate is but pump is at max (850) was going to put new microbac 7 in tomorrow….wait and then Dino X as last ditch effort….i cut almost all whites out as well as red and green in lights …..cut food …..running skimmer changing socks lol……
