So I bit the bullet and treated my 125 mixed reef, mainly SPS and LPS, with a ongoing case of red cyano that has lingered for a couple months after a vibrant treatment. It was not too bad but did cover a portion of the sandbed and a few patches on the rock. I have about 25 fish in the tank including 10 green chromis , a couple tangs, cardinal fish, dottyback, coral beauty etc. I followed the instructions with regard to the dosage and added a large airstone in the main tank and also in the sump for additional aeration. My skimmer did overflow even at the lowest setting soon after treatment so I disconnected. After 12 hours I saw little effect except the cyano started getting a bit stringy vs. just a mat. I decided to siphon the largest patch on the sandbed to avoid it decaying in the tank and when I did it prior it usually returns the next day. At the 24 hour mark the next morning I saw little to no red cyano left and the patch I siphoned the night before was completely clean still. I did want to do this treatment over my holiday break so I could be home during the full course just in case and I had 80 plus gallons of saltwater mixed and ready just in case. After the 48 hour mark I did a 20 % water change and will do another in a week. Normally I change about 3 gallon per day automatically. All corals looked normal and stayed open throughout the treatment and fish were fine as well. My skimmer has calmed down but not quite back to normal but close. Overall I would declare it a great success and would not hesitate to use it again if needed. If I had a severe outbreak though I would siphon as much as possible though right before the treatment to avoid a big die-off. Some might say address the problems with the nutrients but with SPS you really don't want phosphates and nitrates at zero plus I do feed my fish daily. My nitrates prior to treatment were 10 ppm.

I am hopeful. The tank is over 20 years old and the last time I had to use chemiclean was possibly 10 years ago give or take.

So how did the Chemiclean work out in the Long Run?

I've been struggling with SPS for over 3-4 years (killed dozens).
Finally about 5-6 months ago, I automated pretty well everything, and my SPS are beyond Belief with the Stability.

However over last 3 months, the Cyano started and won't back off. Seems to be located on the 3 year old CaribSea Fake Rock, not the 15 year old Live Rock. Maybe it's also lower flow spots.

I want to try ChemiClean, but I got like 40 Beautiful Acro Frags in my Tank. Some sensitive like SSC and Ice Fire Enchinata.

If Chemiclean means a set backback of any degree (Even 1 Frag Loss), I rather continue to fight and watch Cyano for years.
Last 3 months of Zero SPS loss (Color,PE, Growth) is like A Dream Come True. Cyano is just a eye sore.

I am thinking right now ChemiClean might not be ideal (IF ever)
That's because my N & P kind of is the lowest it's ever been. N=0.5 ppm and P=0.05ppm (usually I ran N @ 5-10, and P and 0.1)

I think I should at least wait will my N&P is back up.

Weird Observation I noticed....When Cyano Started, the Corals Took off. So maybe Cyano is telling me something is right (Nutrients)

BTW this is a 110 Gallon Tank which is close to your size, and that's why I picked your thread over the other ChemiClean threads.

No issues, no coral loss from it. Have Orange Passion, Disney, Solar Flare etc. and all were fine and had normal for me nighttime polyp extension throughout. I made sure I added two large airstones, one in the sump since I did not have the skimmer on, one in the main tank. 6 months later I do have a little that came back in the low flow areas but nothing like prior. I personally would not hesitate to use it again if needed.

@Brian_68

I actually hunted for this Thread trying to find who gave me the nudge to use Chemclean.
You were one person!!
NO WORRIES, NOTHING WEN'T WRONG....Quite the Opposite.
I posted a thanks to the others too...

Long story Short......

I was chicken, and first used it in my Roughly maintained Frag Tank, with no SPS Frags, just junky stuff.
Did no harm. Clean things up nicely.

So I tried it in my Dirty LPS Mixed Tank, with no SPS.
Did not Harm. Same thing. Air Stone. Skimmer always goes uncontrollably nuts.
Then the Water change and Carbon.

SO I GOT CONFIDENCE it's harmless and a Good Cleaning Product. SAFE!!
I used it on my deliacate SPS only DT.
All went well and .......

I'm first time in MONTHS Cyano Free. Sparkling water so clear I had to lower the Lighting Intensity since I burned a Sensitive Frag. But only One, till I reliazed I need to adjust lighting.
Now all is FINE, no other corals burned, and improving, even damaged Frags that were on the way down before ChemiClean.

I actually think I will use it as the ChemClean instructions say. Preventive and Regular Water Quality Treatment.

Thanks so much for the Encouragement.
