Hey
What would cause this ? Tank has been up for 1.5 years. I do regular water changes. I Vaccuum a bit of sand on water change days as well. I don’t dose anything other than Aquaforest Component 123

the algae is only on the sand and no rocks covered.
Thanks

Your tank looks very mature congrats on that! What is your PO4 and no3? Also how is your Rodi water?

I would absolutely run the skimmer while using chemiclean, just remove the cup or lower the water level in the skimmer so you still get oxygen exchange

I cant object if you had good results with no ill affects. However, I dont think putting chemicals into a reef is the answer. I havd some red cyano on my bed last week. I adjusted my powerhead/added one. Now I have flow everywhere. I now do a vac of the sandbed once a week with water change into a 5gall bucket. I vac the hell out of the sand. No red algae now. And some purple coraline has started on my back wall. Not saying your method was wrong. But sometimes their may be a unseen or long term affect to those chems. Im no authority, again I respect your results, and im following.
