We are newish to the saltwater tank and have had this tand established for a while but I have noticed this red dot on the elegance coral for a while and curious what it might be and if we should be worried. Thank you :)

Could be a sponge, coralline, or cyano, hard to tell from the pic.

I will say this though.....

The conical shaped base of that elegance means it's supposed to be on the sandbed where they lay out their polyps, it will be more happy there, and where it was collected from.

At night time it looks like that but during the day it’s open and happy. Once everything in our bigger thank has been established then we are moving the elegance and other corals. I’ll definitely let my partner know to place it in the sandbed though. Thank you I will look into what you suggested it might be.

My vote is for either coralline or sponge. It really doesn't look like cyanobacteria to me at all. And a huge +1 to placing it in sand so that almost all of the base is covered. The tissue of elegance corals is very delicate and can easily be torn as it expands and drapes over the relatively sharp skeleton. Even if you just place it in a plastic bowl with sand as a temporary fix it will be better off.
