Hi,

this morning I noticed my red dragon frag’s tissue suddenly started peeling. I believe it’s a goner but I was wondering if anyone knows why this happened? Thanks!

Alkalinity spices or nutrients to low or swings are suspect number one . You should check all parameters. That may reveal something for you . That sucks you lost a red dragon.

I love and hate acros cause one day you will wake up and this colony you have been working so hard to keep growing and alive is just white. Beautiful and delicate.

I know that feeling. Picked up an orange passion many years ago. Grew a nub to 3 inches across and then one day it went white.

Btw I would recommend you guys get the Boomberry acropora from boom corals . That is a very good and forgiving coral it takes alkalinity swings , high phosphates nutrients swinging around and even high SG . And it just keeps going and going . The toughest coral I have . You can’t go wrong with that one . It’s blueish colored.

It was forgiving... until it met my tank.

I'll give it a try. I haven't own a stick in many years.

Gotta ask...cause it looks like a mound of aiptasia below the acro. Or is it something else?

LOL it’s hydroids. I was doseing phosphate this summer, and I had a hundred turn into a hundred thousands of them. My aquarium kept going to zero nutrients both nitrates and phosphate. So I was doseing the stuff. Now in fall season it’s holding some decent numbers @16-nitrates and .050-.090 phosphate. And yes I had a first class outbreak of DINOs . This acro kept going and going , like the energizer bunny .
