I bought a Red Dragon 3 100w - HIGH PRESSURE Pump to replace a Reeflo Super Dart that continued to leak after seal replacement.
Well today, the Red Dragon arrived, and the Reeflo, which ran almost non-stop for 7 years, died completely. Normally, this would just be an evening project, but I was told by the online vendor that this took 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch PVC - it does not! 1 1/2 inch PVC is way too loose and 1 inch PVC is too tight. I might be able to sand down a 1 inch pipe to make it fit, but I am SOL on the intake side.
The Vendor's page says:
intake side Ø 1.5′′ (50 mm) - pressure side Ø 1′′ (32 mm)
Now, I don't know if that is inside or outside diameter, but those numbers don't jive. 50mm is almost 2 inches and 32 mm is just over 1 1 / 4 inch. It is almost as if they intend the outside of their pipe to go inside 2 inch and 1 1/4 inch pipe, but that would make the unions they supply unable to be disconnected. I think I have 38 mm and 25 mm PVC, which they actually make, but then the spec is wrong.
Does anyone have any freakin' clue how to hook up a red dragon pump?
Especially given the cost of this purchase, I feel betrayed both by the merchant who claimed to be familiar with the product and used these it before, and by Royal Exclusive for failing to write proper specs in their manual. I do realize the timing of the failure of the Reeflo is just terrible luck.
