This piece was given to me about a month ago. Polyps are starting to peek out some. I believe red dragon has white polyps but this one looks to have a bright pink color. Haven't seen the polyps fully extend yet.

Colors in picture are off a bit. Ends are pinkish purple and rest is still brownish

I have had mine for about 2 months now, very faint pe with lights on, minimal pe compared to other acropora at night. Polyps are white, and it's a fast grower and encrusting quickly.

Nov 30th.

I wonder if giving it more flow will enhance pe.

How much light are you giving it? I've got a piece for about two months hats hardly done anything. Medium light and medium flow.

ATI T5 4 bulb, 7 hours.
Pretty high flow.
Ca 350-380
Alk 7-7.4
IO salt
No dosing.
Reefroids at night.

I have my piece in a high flow area. Piece I had before tank crash was also in a high flow area. It had white polyps and grew pretty quickly

I have a colony in medium to high light, and medium to high flow. It grows like a weed in my tank, it’s about to grow into my Birdsnest. The funny thing is that it’s polyps never come out during daytime hours, only at night and they are white

True CITR Red Dragon gets whiter polyps and tips with lower nutrients and more light. Body also goes pinkish from the deeper pink/red that you see a lot. There are all kinds of other Red Dragons, mostly AQ, that I have no idea about, but they all seem to darken up with more nutrients and grow better and have more contrast with less.

Here is a cell phone photo of some of my frags I have. As you can see the polyps don’t really come out much during the day, but you could tell they are white.

My piece looks pretty much like yours but the polyps look pink

The CITR Red Dragon will also encrust for me. I have not seen many others do this. It is not a ton of encrusting, but enough to keep the colony/frag in place.

That’s like mine, it seems to encrust pretty fast too.

Thank you! I need to trim it again and I still have like 6 frags on my rack hahaha

It is an easy sell or trade around me. The same people seem to need it over and over again since they kill it a lot. :)

The red dragon is one of my favorite pieces. I haven't tried it again since I lost my big colony from a crash a while back. It had white polyps and during lights out the PE was insane!
