I noticed a few red strands coming off of my xenia island today. They were reaching out about 2.5 to 3 inches going into the rock next to it. Did a little searching and it doesn't seem that xenia have feelers so I'm concerned what they might be. I touched them and they retracted quickly and I can't see what they retracted into since it was the back of the rock. I spun the rock around in hopes of seeing it but of course it is shy.

Any idea what it is? I'll try to get a pic if I see it again. Thanks for the help!

They came back out. They have movement and are actually grabbing grains of sand and bringing them back to the rock (actually a conch shell). They seem to be coming from inside the shell.

Spaghetti worm would be my best guess.

I hope so! That wouldn't be a bad thing. Looked online and saw a few pics. It definitely could be.

Sorry for the new reefer freak out if so!

No problem. ;)

Red filaments pulling in detritus leads me to believe it's a Spaghetti worm and the image.
