Red flatworm?

Flatworm yes. Remove manually if you are able to. Consider a wrasse such as 4 lined or melanurus who will eat them.
last resort- Flatworm exit liquid which does work BUT potent.

Too bad it wasnt a pepperidge farm goldfish

Can you get a pic in white light? We might be able to tell you the type of flatworm it is and that will better determine a good course of action. Some are very bad and other will only eat algae on glass, but can reproduce quickly. Some are also short lived if they do not have what they need to feed on.

Good news is this is a brand new tank. Only fish and snails are in the tank. No other inverts. Will try to grab another pic

If you find one that has a similar shape and color, google it for more pics to compare to.

Thanks. Based on what I see there it looks like brown flatworms to me.

Is it worth trying to kill the few I see with flatworm exit? Will FWE kill my snails?

I have never used FW Exit before, so cannot tell ya on that. I would be removing as many as possible visually and keep checking for a few days to remove anymore. At least until one for the following can chime in on FW Exit. @vetteguy53081 or @KJ can you provide some guidance on FW Exit?

I trust FWE. I dose at 80% of recommended dosage . It works well. You can 50% and add one of the wrasses mentioned

I already have a mystery wrasse in the display. That must be why I only see them in the sump.

Been reading and some folks say these types of flatworms don't bother corals? I'm irritated that they are in there at all. I QT'd all my fish and used dry rock and sand. I guess these guys came in on the snails I ordered

They are a photosynthetic flatworm and multiply by cloning. I've dealt with them in my frag tank. FWE does work, but they release toxins when they die. If you dont do a water change and fresh charcoal they can possibly hurt the tank. I have a six line and a velvet nudibranch to deal with mine. I used FWE, but it didnt kill all of them. Six line and velvet put a huge dent in the amount I had.

I used salifert flatworm stop the other day in my frag tank. It worked great. I don’t see any that survived. I siphoned them all up through a filter sock and returned the water since I was low on new water. No issues, tank looks great.

I'm going to roll with FWE and see how it goes. I figure now is a great time to do it since there are no corals and I feel like I've caught them early. Hopefully there aren't enough to cause too much of a toxic issue.

Well,

On Tuesday I used a whole bottle of FWE on my tank. I watched as the fw on the walls of the sump released and floated to the top. Now 3 days later I checked and there were more. How is this possible?

The bottle says it treats 300 gallons. My tank is 60x24x30. Trigger timeline 36 sump. I guess I'm running 240-260 gallons max. I was planning to retreat in a week or so to kill any baby worms, but didn't expect to see big ones after only 3 days.

Any ideas?

Your likely going to need to do more then one treatment. There are animals that do eat them, if you would rather go a natural way. Six line, coris or melanurus wrasse eat them, as well as velvet nudibranch. But if you go with the nudi, make sure you have another home lined up, as they only eat flat worms and will starve if you have no food left for it.
