Need some help guys -

I have a bare bottom 120 SPS tank that’s been up and running since November. I have been battling with keeping my nitrates and phosphates above 0 but now have it under control with regular dosing of NeoNitro and NeoPhos. A few weeks ago I had a cyano outbreak which I treated with ChemiClean. All the cyano was gone within 48hrs but shortly after I started getting little patches of red hair algae on my rocks. Is this cyano as well or just another form of hair algae? I have been manually removing it as best I can with a toothbrush but it doesn’t seem to be doing much.

I tested my water parameters again this morning.

Cal 430
Alk 9.75
Mag 1350
Sg - 1.026
Nitrate - 5
Phosphates - 0.07
Temp - 78-80

Water is from a RO system producing 0 tds and checked with two separate monitors to confirm

Tank is lit by a ATI 8x54 and two SB Reef SBars. All three months old

I just mailed my ICP test this morning and am waiting for the results.

If this is another form of Cyano I will treat again but I need to know what I am dealing with.

Also - the tank has various snails and crabs. Livestock consists of Yellow Tang, Cole Tang, Hawk Fish, lawnmower Blenny

Thanks

Pictures of the algae would help.

I turned my photo period down when I was dealing with these issues.

A refugium can also help with stability and nutrients exports
