Hi Everyone, it’s been a long time, I’ve been the hobby a little over 3 years. This is my second time dealing with algae growing on my rocks, the last time this happen, I bought a Clean up crew, they clean the hair off the rocks but, they took there dear time, eventually they clean up the rocks, I just bought another clean up crew. I’ll see what happens. I let the algae get out of control, to many vacation this summer not on top of things☹️ Is there anything else can I do about nuisance red or brown hair alga growing my rocks?

You can manually remove as much as possible. Take the rocks out and scrub them with a brush in salt water.

time to get your hands wet.
letting a clean up crew mow down that algae is easy but unfortunately it does nothing to remove the elevated nutrients as they just poop it back in.
on water change day spend an hour pinching algae out and remove it from the tank THEN let the CUC take care of the remaining stuff and maintain it going forward.

The red forming is Cyanobacteria, how’s your nitrates and phosphates?

Hi everyone, I just bought some CUC to start the process on dealing with this Red hair algae. I took further action by decreasing the intensity of my lights. I hope it don’t effect my only green star poly coral. As you can see in the picture the snails started cleaning one of my live Rocks. My next step is to clean the rocks much as I can. Any further advice will be appreciated. Thank you everyone for your continuous support.
