hello,

i have a red head salon wrasse in a 75g qt along with a small yellow tank, sailfin, midas blenny, and a couple gobies. there are 3 large piles of rock work. the fish will be added to my 220g, once they go through qt.

everyone was fine, until i added a lyretail anthais trio. the red head salon wrasse started chasing the anthias relentlessly... it doesn't want to see them in the open, and seems to be claiming all 3 piles of rock...

i caught the wrasse... maybe i should have added him last? i'm not sure if i should switch him out for another wrasse, keep him separated for a month and try again, or what...

anyone have experience with wrasse aggression?

If he is being a jerk like that, try a mirror. It may distract him long enough for the anthias to become acclimated.

I'm a little surprised that the solorensis is being so aggressive. IME the dominant lyretail is more aggressive than a solorensis. That being said, there are always exceptions. The mirror trick may help, but it also may 'amp' him up even more.

Do you have an acclimation box? Putting the solorensis in an acclimation box, where he can see the anthias, but not get to them can help the anthias settle in and the solorensis to settle down.

Thanks... he I spoke already in an acclimation box. I caught him last night, and banished him to the box. I'll give him a week or two, and try him in with the wrasses... if he doesn't get along, then he is going to have to go. I can alway trade him in for another...

I had a salon act similar before, but it was with wrasses added after it. I didn't think it would be a booger to anthias...
